Megan Piggott has lived in South Florida for 7 years, originally moving here to attend Nova Southeastern University and play on the women’s college basketball team. Prior to this, Megan lived most recently in St. Augustine, FL but moved around the country many times from growing up in a military family.
Megan played on the women’s college basketball team at NSU for 4 years as she worked towards receiving her undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a minor in Sport & Recreation Management and her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. In her final year of playing, Megan’s team made it to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Division II Tournament where she was also awarded the Elite 90 award, given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA in women’s basketball.
Megan joined the MIASF team as an intern in 2018 after being introduced to the industry and association when she volunteered at one of MIASF’s signature events, the Plywood Regatta. In November 2019, Megan joined the team full-time and has integrated her passion for creativity, marketing, and helping the next generation into her current role as Director of Marketing & Workforce Development. Additionally, what began as a role behind the scenes, Megan now also serves as co-host of the Telly award-winning video series, Salty Jobs. Salty Jobs is an initiative MIASF began with the purpose of introducing the next generation workforce to the more than 149,000 job opportunities available in our industry in South Florida.
In the community, Megan is a member of Young Professionals in Yachting (YPY), Emerge Broward, and the Florida Festivals & Events Association (FFEA). When she’s not working, Megan enjoys spending her time outside and being active or trying out new donut shops.
