Lori Wheeler

Lori Wheeler has lived in Broward County for more than 13 years, having grown up in Palm Beach County after her family moved to South Florida from Massachusetts when she was a child. After high school, she attended Palm Beach State College and Florida Atlantic University.
Prior to working for the MIASF, Lori operated the State’s Traffic & Bicycle Safety Education Program for the Boca Raton Police Services Department and served as the City’s liaison to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board. Previously, she worked as a customer service supervisor and account manager for two local companies.
As an active member of the community, Lori is a member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and co-chairs the Chamber’s Marine Advisory Council. She is a member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Board of Directors, Chair of the Yacht Service Technician Apprenticeship Program and sits on the Winterfest Foundation Board. She is a graduate of Leadership Broward Class 35 and chairs the Business Day program for current Leadership Broward enrollees. She is also Co-Chair of the National Marine Trades Council (NMTC), a member of the CareerSource Broward Workforce Development Board of Directors, Habitat for Humanity of Broward Board of Directors, and serves on the American Lung Association of South Florida’s Turquoise Takeover Lung Force Committee. Lori is in the current Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class 42 class, was inducted into the 2018 class of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County, was honoree of the 2019 Up & Comer Awards by the South Florida Business & Wealth, was honoree of the 2023 Women Trailblazers of Broward County by History Fort Lauderdale, and was honored as one of the Boating industry's 2024 Women Making Waves.
