Since June 2016, Kelly Skidmore has been MIASF’s public relations specialist, writing the monthly newsletter, submitting press releases and articles to local publications, directing episodes of the Salty Jobs video series, and assisting with state legislative issues. Kelly grew up in Deerfield Beach, having moved there with her parents and four siblings in 1972. Early in her career, Kelly spent 12 years working with the real estate development company, Arvida, before trading it in for a job in the Florida Legislature. After 10 years as staff, Kelly ran for office and was elected as a State Representative and served from 2006 to 2010, representing portions of Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, and Delray Beach. She then worked as VP of Community Relations in the corporate office of UnitedHealthcare Florida Plan, and as a private consultant before joining the MIASF team. Kelly and her husband live in Boca Raton and are devoted to their daughter and boating as often as possible.
