National Marine Manufacturers Association will host its annual American Boating Congress conference from May 13th through 15th in Washington, D.C. MIASF’s director of operations, Lori Wheeler and industry liaison, Patience Cohn, will attend the three-day advocacy and education sessions to speak with national agency leaders, as well as elected officials and staff on the importance of the marine industry at its economic impact and influence on the nation’s GDP. Feeling blue? Join MIASF for the monthly Maritime Monday networking event on May 6th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Boathouse at the Riverside, where we will be supporting the American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE and kicking off National Women’s Lung Health Week and Turquoise Takeover May 12th through 18th. As always, MIASF will buy your first drink and provide some tasty appetizers, BUT, if you’re wearing turquoise, you’re second drink is also free! You can also show your support and help spread lung cancer awareness throughout National Women’s Lung Health week by wearing turquoise, decorating your office, illuminating your building, turning your social media turquoise, and encouraging others to join in.
We’re racing toward the date of the MIASF Annual Dinner Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 18th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach. You won’t want to miss the winner’s circle announcement of MIASF’s board of directors’ election results, the Awards of Excellence, and the Golden Anchor Award. We’re raising the stakes on the dining and dancing experience and betting there will be Derby Chic fascinators and Black-Eyed Susans galore. Tickets are $125 per person and a reserved table of 10 is $1,500, complimentary valet parking included. RSVP to www.miasf.org/annualmeeting by May 10th or you may be left jockeying for a seat!
