Mission of Hope, one of our community partners in the ongoing recovery of Hurricane Dorian’s hardest hit areas of the Bahamas, has provided a brief update of their activities on the island since December and we are pleased to share it with you.
For the last six weeks, Mission of Hope has worked on clearing and repairing facilities at Camp Abaco and were able to help the camp begin housing other construction volunteers by mucking out houses, supply buildings, and a chapel, and repairing multiple roofs. They also mucked out two additional buildings and tarped a church roof. They successfully brought a container of supplies from the U.S. to repair another building being used as housing for a family who lost their home in the hurricane. Additionally, they have been volunteering for an after-care program at a church that is doubling as a school and a supply distribution center.
