The MIASF Hospitality Lounge hosted a wealth of events throughout the duration of the 62nd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. One of note is the 7th annual Global Business Luncheon held on the opening day of the show. This exclusive event invites elected officials, c-suite level executives, and industry professionals to come together over lunch and to hear from a panel of keynote speakers presenting about relevant business topics. This year’s event featured Nicholas Flanders, CEO & Co-Founder of Twelve. In addition to being recognized on the Forbes 30 Under 30 in Energy, Nicholas was also the winner of the Neptune Award in 2019 at Ocean Exchange’s annual competition and was awarded $100,000 in prize money. Twelve is a leading-edge carbon transformation company and has partnered with many notable companies to promote sustainable energy use such as Mercedes-Benz, Tide, and the U.S. Air Force. Joining Nicholas on the panel was Baxter Underwood, CEO of Safe Harbor Marinas. Based in Dallas, Texas, Safe Harbor is the nation’s largest network of marinas that has recently further entered the South Florida marine industry by acquiring Rybovich and Lauderdale Marine Center in 2021. The discussion was moderated by Howard Greenberg and focused on the path of both successful leaders, where their companies currently are, and where they are headed in the future. Sponsored by the South Florida Business Journal and in partnership with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, this event is always a highlight and great kick-off to open the show.
