Job Description for Marine Technician
• Utilize appropriate tooling, instrumentation, technical information, diagnostic equipment to inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, repair large and mega yachts and vessels. • Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install yacht systems and components. • Complete engine overhauls as well as other repairs identified during the diagnostic process. • Verify performance by conducting sea trials and making necessary adjustments as needed. • Maintains engine and vessel records with accurate documentation of service and repairs. • Building relationships with new prospective customers and maintaining relationships with current customers. • Communicate regularly with customers, answer questions, provide feedback as needed. • Provide guidance, assistance, and training to apprentice and junior-level technicians. • Assist in preparing estimates and proposals for repairs and work orders upon customer approval. • Investigate and document discovery and test results reports for the service manager and customer. • Ensure the systems and components are in compliance and meet OEM standards. • Safely operate vessels of all sizes and styles. • Maintains a safe and organized work environment. • Be familiar with the safe navigation of SWFL waterways. • Perform other related duties, as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues. • Ability to read service and repair manuals, operating instructions, and work orders. • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Thorough understanding of diesel engine electronic controls. • Knowledge of all aspects of current marine systems. • Critical thinking skills, applying logic and reasoning, with little direction, to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches. • Positive team player with a “roll up your sleeves”, service-oriented attitude. • Attention to detail, well-organized, and ability to prioritize tasks. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to clearly communicate with technical support, customers and leadership. • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team. • Strong computer system skills and knowledge. Experience and Education: • Minimum five (5) years experience working in the marine industry with MTU, Northern Lights, and Kohler engines and generators. • Degree Marine Diesel Repair preferred. • High school diploma/GED preferred. • Current Florida driver’s license with a clean, unblemished, driving record is required.
Qualifications for Marine Technician
Experience and Education: • Minimum five (5) years experience working in the marine industry with MTU, Northern Lights, Kohler engines and generators. • Degree Marine Diesel Repair preferred. • High school diploma/GED preferred. • Current Florida driver’s license with a clean, unblemished, driving record is required. *Ability to travel domestically as well as internationally
