RMK Merrill-Stevens, Florida’s Oldest Shipyard, is under Major Renovation requiring a Marine Bottom Painter. Work must be of the highest international standards to meet Classification Society Requirements of ABS, Lloyds and the US Coast Guard. Our customers and employees need the full support of a detail oriented Marine Finish Painter with full working knowledge of various finishes such as varnish, shellac, and enamels. As a Member of our Paint Department, your work with painting equipment used in coating applications requires you to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and service order specifications. Taking responsibility, maintaining flexibility and safely performing multiple duties and tasks under stressful or hazardous conditions will lead you to success in our fast-paced environment. Qualifications for Marine Bottom Painter
Required Experience and Education: • High school diploma or GED required. • Technical degree highly preferred. • Marine Certification(s) highly preferred. • Bilingual highly preferred. • 3+ years’ experience in this role or similar within the Marine Industry. Required Service and Interpersonal Skills: • Tendency to display endurance and capacity for a fast pace. • Able to work independently at times and make sound decisions. • Knows limitations and when to ask for help. • The ability to stoop, crouch, pull, push, reach, hear, near vision, kneel, talk, stand, grasp and lift to 50 lbs. while working around moving machinery on a moving ship. Working Conditions: • Work outdoors frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions. • Work indoor or aboard vessel which may have fumes, chemicals and heat as well as noise, dust and odors. • Dynamic, fast-paced outdoor setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. • May be exposed to vibrations, smoke, acids, degreasing cleaners, fumes dust, solvents, oil, grease, and confined spaces. • Frequent climbing of inclined stairways and vertical required. • Work aboard the vessels can be strenuous and sometimes hazardous. • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Required Safety Equipment: • Requires wearing protective clothing with no holes. • Requires eye protection, respirator and hearing protection; may require wearing a hard hat and/or welder's helmet.
