This is a unique opportunity to lead an impactful, mission-driven organization that enhances the lives of children and adults with disabilities, as well as veterans, through therapeutic marine-based experiences. The Role The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the organization. The Executive Director’s primary goal is to ensure the organization’s mission is fulfilled while assuring it operates efficiently and effectively with the resources it requires. The Executive Director carries out the organization’s fundraising, operations, fiscal management, marketing, community outreach, and strategic partnerships in accordance with the policies set forth by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director’s job includes but is not limited to providing overall strategic direction, supporting Board governance and committee work, developing and implementing operational and fundraising strategies, supervising and coaching the workforce, participating in the community, championing the organization and its mission, and forging a sustainable economic model. The Executive Director’s position requires a forward thinking and strategic leader with an organizational development and capacity mindset and expertise. The Executive Director understands the organization’s target population, its needs, and support requirements. The Executive Director is team-oriented with the workforce and a community builder with the organization’s stakeholders. The Executive Director advances and sustains the organization, particularly operationally and economically. Ideally, the Executive Director possesses a blend of nonprofit management, fund/resource development, and business proficiency. Key Responsibilities The Executive Director has lead responsibility for strategic leadership, organizational strategy, revenue generation, operational administration, and community engagement. Key activities include the following: • Co-develop and implement a strategic plan, direction, and associated business strategies for the organization, including to meet the needs of its target community • Work collaboratively with the Board and committees to maximize governance support and performance • Prepare, present, and oversee the organization’s annual budget with the assistance of the Board Treasurer • Ensure the organization has growing and diversified revenue sources to cover costs as well as to support initiatives through annual fundraising activities that generate operating resources • Implement operational strategies that meet the need for current and future capacity and with attention on supervising daily operations and advancing best practices • Create a professional work environment that attracts and retains talented and dedicated employees, while ensuring their development, productivity, compensation, and well-being • Serve as an organization ambassador, participating to maintain visibility, enhance stature, broaden stakeholder awareness, garner support, and deepen community impact Freedom Waters Foundation is an Equal Opportunity Employer Founded in 2006, Freedom Waters Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community-based organization that provides healing marine-based social and environmental programs for vulnerable populations. Qualifications for Executive Director

The Executive Director possesses the following minimum qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, business, or related field; Master’s degree preferred • Five (5) or more years of experience in senior leadership in the nonprofit sector or related field • Proven leadership and business acumen, ideally within a mission-driven organization • Proven executive track record generating revenue streams and improving financial results • Success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence for funding, resources, and partnerships • Ability to organize, manage, and mobilize employees and volunteers • Ability to build and forge a productive and synergistic relationship with a Board • Knowledge of nonprofit laws, regulations, and best practices • Demonstrated financial management skills • High level strategic thinking and planning • Communication, presentation, and public speaking skills • Experience overseeing organization development and growth • Ability to work weekends and evenings as required • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25% of work time) within South Florida (west and east coast) and occasionally out of state • Proper documentation to work in the United States • Valid Florida driver’s license, Level II background clearance, and drug-free status
