Job Description for Lead Marine HVAC Service Technician

Since 2004, Elite Marine Air Conditioning has deployed our experienced personnel to super yachts and sport fishing vessels located anywhere in the world. We’ve worked on everything from new installations and minor repairs to annual maintenance and complete refits. In short, our deep marine expertise ensures your equipment runs well long after you’ve left the dock. Elite Marine Air Conditioning is currently looking for Lead Marine HVAC Technicians to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong work ethic, team mentality and a can-do attitude. The Lead Marine HVAC Technician will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, and marine water maker units. This position will also be responsible for the installation of new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. This role reports directly to the Service Manager. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, service, and repair of marine air conditioning and refrigeration systems Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits for faults and open circuits Perform routine soldering of copper joints and dissimilar metals Test pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution Join pipes or tubing to equipment and/or water or refrigerant source, to form a complete circuit Reassemble and test equipment following repairs Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring Layout and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment, according to wiring diagrams, using electrician’s hand tools Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications for Lead Marine HVAC Service Technician

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Minimum High school diploma, HVAC accredited schooling completion required. EPA certification or the ability to obtain one before the start of employment. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Must be willing to regularly commute to West Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade counties. 5+ years’ experience in residential or commercial HVAC installation and servicing; marine HVAC and water maker reverse osmosis experience preferred. Understanding of basic hand tool usage, including meters, gauges, drills, and saws etc. Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot etc. Ability to work onboard yachts, confined spaces and hot/humid environments. Availability for overtime and/or weekend work. Ability to travel 10% of the time in US and Internationally. Capacity to work in a team environment and independently. Great oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills required to properly represent Elite Marine to customers, vendors, and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner. Strong attention to detail. Must be able to lift and bend frequently; must be able to routinely lift and move up to 50 lbs. without assistant; capable of working in indoor and outdoor settings; exposure to hot and humid environments; comfortable in confided spaces aboard marine vessels at times. Schedule: day shift - on call - weekends as needed. Supplemental pay types: bonus opportunities - overtime pay. Must have the ability to commute/relocate: West Palm Beach, FL: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required). Experience: HVAC: 5 years (Required). License/Certification: EPA Type II (Required). Work Location: On the road
