Job Description for Buyer
The Buyer is responsible for organizing purchasing functions; including, but not limited to the procurement of inventory replenishment and customer requisitions. The Buyer is expected to manage the strategic sourcing, request for quotes (RFQs), negotiations, quote analysis, Purchase Order (PO) issuance and follow up for on-time delivery for their requisitions. The Buyer also coordinates bid process and ensures compliance with procurement conflict-of-interest policies and regulations. Key Job Responsibilities: Able to strategically source, prepare bid packages and negotiate commodities. Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills. Evaluates vendors to measure product and service performance to ensure they are meeting Bradford quality standards. Evaluate vendors to measure on-time delivery and relationship performance. Backup for Buyer/s to include ordering of supplies/goods, equipment and material, reviewing and processing/issuing of purchase orders, as required. Identify opportunities for cost savings and expansion of vendor base. Work with team and manager to continually improve purchasing methods/processes. Timely response to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. Execute on special projects and/or other duties as assigned. Attention to detail and able to adhere to required protocols. Qualifications for Buyer
Education, Work Experience, Licenses, and Certificates: Years of relevant work experience required: 3 years’ experience in a purchasing role preferred Hands-on experience with Logistics, Inventory management, and Procurement Superb communication, interpersonal and customer-centric skills Proactive and self-driven. Problem solver with a strong sense of urgency Outstanding organizational and time management skills Ability to cope with varying levels of workload and multiple tasks Must be able to work in a fast-paced and changing environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to be a team player and contribute to a positive team environment Flexible to work overtime, if needed, to meet the company needs Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking Requires occasional bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 75 pounds Requires to work in an office using office equipment and computer The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions.
