Welcome to MIASF, Nicole! August 18, 2016
We are delighted to announce that Nicole Hoekstra has joined the staff at MIASF as Administrative /Events Coordinator. Nicole comes to us from Connell Communications where she was the Administrative/Events Coordinator for more than four years. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Florida Atlantic University and a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from Florida State University.
Nicole will be responsible for updating and maintaining MIASF’s online and social media content, as well as working with the team on producing the Plywood Regatta, Waterway Cleanup, Marine Industry Day, and the Fort Lauderdale Billfish Tournament.
Born in Margate, Nicole has a strong family connection to the marine industry, as her aunt Sandy Hoekstra Handrahan owns Yacht-Mate Products where her sister Debbie DeBrocq is the Operations Manager, her cousin Michelle Hoekstra is Office Manager at Marine Solutions LLC, and cousin Amy Hoekstra is currently a deck hand on charter in the Bahamas. In her spare time, Nicole serves on the Marine Industry Cares Foundation Chairman’s Gala Committee and the Spin-a-thon Committee.
“I’m very excited to be working at MIASF”, Nicole said. “I’ve been heavily involved in MIASF as a volunteer for many years and it feels like everything I’ve done has led me here.”
