Each year the Annual Waterway Cleanup attracts more than 3,000 volunteers from many neighborhoods and communities throughout Broward County. People of all ages come out in their boats and along the shores to clean all kinds of debris from the waterways.Volunteers are advised to wear gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, closed-toe shoes and clothes that they don't mind getting wet and dirty. They're also encouraged to wear the official Waterway Cleanup T-shirts that will be provided while supplies last. Not all sites have access to drinking water so it is recommended that volunteers bring their own bottled water as well. Waterway Cleanup is a great way to meet your neighbors and to teach or learn the importance of environmental responsibility.

After all the work is finished and the trash tallied, there's a Trash Bash volunteer appreciation party to thank all the volunteers for their hard work and to celebrate 32 years of clean waterways. Each volunteer will receive a ticket for the Trash Bash at the check-in table at each of the 33 waterway cleanup sites.

The Trash Bash will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park in Dania Beach immediately following the morning activities. There will be food, drinks, entertainment and exciting door prizes for our hardworking helpers, so don't miss out on the fun!
