Volunteer Profile: Matt Pitnick September 26, 2016
What prompted your participation on the Marine Industry Day Committee and what did you enjoy most from the experience?
After joining the MIASF, I had asked about meaningful ways to get involved within the group. The team told me about Marine Industry Day and how it was organized to increase industry awareness within the community. Being a part of the committee has been very rewarding and a great way to meet other members. I have enjoyed seeing the progression of the event over the past couple of years. I know how much work goes into organizing it and am really proud of what the team has accomplished.
Are you involved in any other community organizations or events?
Yes, I am active in the community. Some groups that I have been involved with are the Special Olympics, Junior Achievement, and Habitat for Humanity.
Why is volunteering important to you?
Volunteering is important to me because without volunteers, many organizations that are so valuable to the community would not be able to operate. Donating my time is a way to give back.
How does your business connect with the marine industry?
Biscayne Risk & Insurance Group provides business insurance brokerage and risk management services with a focus on the marine industry. We help small to mid-sized companies understand risks that face their business and negotiate insurance on their behalf. Our expertise includes coverages such as Workers Compensation, General and Marine Liabilities, Commercial Auto, and Property.
Where are you from and where do you live now?
I am originally from New York but my family moved to South Florida in 1994. I currently live in Boynton Beach.
What do you do for fun?
I like to stay active, going to the gym, playing tennis, and being in and around the water. I’m also pretty much up for anything that the family can do together.
