Volunteer Profile: Amie Nappi June 28, 2017
Where are you from and how long have you lived here?
I grew up in Freeport, Maine, which is a coastal town near the middle of the state. I moved to Florida in 2001 to start a new career.
What is your career background?
I began working at a young age in our family grocery, Bow Street Market, which is still in the family and is an organic, local, no GMO market established in 1974. I’ve worked in a variety of industries, including:
-FT Interactive Data – Financial/Wall Street firm for 13 years working with 3rd party trust accounting, portfolio accounting, and investment accounting software, which allowed me to travel the world many times
-The Capital Grille – Sales & Marketing
-Private Aviation – Guest Experience Attendant
-National Jets – Guest Experience Manager
-Lauderdale Marine Center – Contractor Relations Manager
What prompted your participation in MIASF events and what do you enjoy most from the experience?
Growing up near the ocean, with boating, sailing, and the ability to work in marinas, has made it a love of mine. I want all generations to appreciate the beauty of our waterways and oceans, and understand the importance of protecting them and keeping them clean.
Are you involved in any other community organizations or events?
Habitat for Humanity, HANDY, Boys and Girls Club, Jack & Jill Children’s Center
Why is volunteering important to you?
First and foremost, it’s fun! It is meaningful to me to help educate others and participate in the development of younger generations.
What do you do for fun?
Boating, kayaking, biking, cooking, and listening to music
