U.S. Coast Guard January 30, 2019
Due to the federal government shutdown, the Coast Guard Foundation dinner to honor members of USCG District 7 on January 24th had to be postponed. The Foundation is hopeful that it will be able to reschedule the dinner in March and is in the process of contacting each sponsor and ticket purchaser to advise them of the situation.
In the meantime, the Coast Guard is the only U.S. military branch that is unpaid during the government shutdown. Although some members of Congress are working to correct this unfair policy, the Foundation is accepting gas and food gift cards in $20 increments for furloughed and non-paid working Coast Guard members. Gift cards can be dropped off at MIASF’s office to be delivered to the Foundation for distribution.
