Text messaging service connects buyers, boats September 22, 2015

Former captain Todd Weider was at FLIBS with a client and he was having trouble getting more information on several boats they liked. He thought, “wouldn’t it be great if there was a code on these boats that anybody could text to a phone number? A message could then be returned with a link that could include specs, a 3D tour, charter info or whatever, and saved to my phone. Then, if I liked what I saw, I could reply now or in the future and a real person could receive my request via text and instantly call or text me on the spot and arrange to view or further discuss the vessel, etc.”

That was the beginning of the concept behind Revlio, a Fort Lauderdale based technology company that is positioned to help the marine industry drive the explosion of mobile use in business forward.

Revlio, owned by Pelorus Holdings (which also own SaltHub), is revolutionizing how we interact with products and items of interest, and it will be available for the first time at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

Revlio makes it possible to save virtually anything someone sees or likes to their phone. The technology can transform every social media post, advertisement, window display, and product into a mobile experience. Those items can then be instantly shopped, explored, retrieved and shared with others. The breakthrough technology requires no apps to download, no searching, and no URLs or words to type.

Through SMS hash codes and a simple text message, Revlio eliminates the extra steps between seeing a product and owning it through unique codes that brands can place virtually anywhere.

Why does this matter to the marine industry, you might ask?

Boat shows continue to be focal points for buyers to learn and become educated on all sorts of boats and boating equipment. Now boaters can save what they have seen at the show without carrying around product brochures. Using this technology, buyers can literally see any boat without having to physically go on it and share this info with their friends.

For businesses using social media, Revlio also works with Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.

In addition to the boat show, Revlio also plans to launch other exciting components with music and sports.

You can try Revlio for free at, and through the end of the month, all MIASF members receive 20% off the subscription with the coupon code MIASF. More information is available at
