Sun Sentinel: Amber Leigh tops bill at Marine Industry Day festival June 2, 2015

Delray Beach country singer Amber Leigh will be the headliner for the second annual Marine Industry Day festival, a family-style gathering set for June 20 at Esplanade Park on the New River in Fort Lauderdale.

The river will be a popular spot that day: The inaugural Marine Industry Day festivities last year brought 2,000 people downtown. This year’s event will happen as thousands more music fans gather a few hundred yards down the river for Lauderdale Live, a two-day concert led by Phillip Phillips and O.A.R. in Huizenga Park June 20-21.

Consider it an embarrassment of live-music riches.

Marine Industry Day is a celebration of the region’s diverse relationship to the sea via its vibrant recreational boating, fishing and diving industries, renowned oceanographic research institutions, Port Everglades and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The festivities also will include performances by local favorites Brass Evolution and Curbstone, a line of popular food trucks, paddleboard demonstrations, pirate fights, casting lessons, Water Taxi rides, animal encounters and more. Marine Industry Day hours are noon-6 p.m. Admission is free. Esplanade Park is at 400 S.W. Second St. Info:
