Summer Job Placements July 26, 2017

The MIASF Workforce and Education Committee has worked diligently to strengthen relationships with local high schools and encourage students to consider a career in the marine industry. As part of that ongoing effort, MIASF Director of Development and host of Salty Jobs, Sean Smith, spent several days interviewing dozens of high school students looking for a summer job or internship and selected those with the highest aptitude and greatest attitude to place with MIASF members. Many thanks to the following members who have accepted the responsibility of helping to train the next generation of marine industry professionals:

•  Derecktor of Florida has hired Patrick Evans, age 18, South Broward High School Marine Mechanics Magnet Program
•  Boat Owners Warehouse has hired Paul Womack, age 17, South Broward High School Maritime Technology Magnet Program
•  Nova Southeastern University has accepted volunteer intern Taylor Poutre, age 16, South Broward High School Maritime Technology Magnet Program
•  Nova Southeastern University has accepted volunteer intern Chelsea Medina, age 16, South Broward High School Maritime Technology Magnet Program
•  Foster’s Marine Service has hired Jaytee Dolabaille, age 18, South Broward High School Marine Mechanics Magnet Program
•  Advanced Mechanical Enterprises has selected intern Natalie Gadelrab, age 19, Florida Institute of Technology. Natalie is also an MIASF scholarship winner and long-time participant in the Plywood Regatta
•  AERE Marine Group hired Tuwon Cottrell-Dukes, age 17, Fort Lauderdale High School
•  Frank & Jimmie’s Propeller hired Gary Dudra, age 17, and Mason Roberts, age 17, both from South Broward High School Marine Mechanics Magnet program

The association and the committee are committed to engaging middle school, high school, technical school, college, and university students and inspiring them to explore the wide array of exciting marine industry career paths as an ideal option for their future.
