Staff Profile: Sean Smith June 27, 2018
Sean Smith, MIASF’s director of development and host of Salty Jobs, recently completed his 10-month Leadership Broward experience and successfully graduated from the 34-year-old program, which is designed to help emerging leaders expand their skills and enhance their knowledge of local and state issues, as well as leverage their individual passion to make positive changes in our community. With orientation days, overnight retreats, and monthly program days that are planned by alumni committees, participants get a backstage pass to Broward County, with tours, guest speakers, interactive activities, and engaging discussions during each day’s theme.
Community service engagement is emphasized during the Leadership Broward program with local non-profit organizations submitting project proposals to the entire class. Sean was elected as leader of his project group and was assigned to develop a communications and marketing strategy for FLIPANY’s Earn a Bike program, a hands-on learning and earning program for youth ages 10-17, who learn the basics of bike repair and maintenance, as well as safe riding on the roads.
