Past Events December 20, 2018
With hundreds of people in attendance at MIASF’s headquarters in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the marine industry’s “Jingle and Fla-mingle Holiday Party” was a huge success of food, fun, and festivities! Hosted by MIASF, USSA, IYBA, and YPY, the annual event that celebrates collaboration and camaraderie between multiple associations also provided a truckload of toys, stuffed animals, books, and gift cards to children being served at the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center, which provides family-centered comprehensive prevention, intervention, and treatment services. Proceeds from the event support marine industry summer camps. Many thanks to all those who participated!
Jerry’s Marine Service was host once again to this year’s Industry Appreciation Open House on December 14th – an MIASF Member Mingle event. An enormous spread of pulled pork, deep-fried turkey, potatoes, sides, and dozens of desserts was laid out for all to enjoy. Congratulations to Jerry’s and Twisted Pig BBQ for another great event.
MIASF staff members attended the Advisory Council of Marine Associations (ACMA) meeting, held on December 10th at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando in conjunction with the Marine Dealer Conference and Expo. Attendees from around the U.S. and Canada were welcomed by the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas, participated in a review of ACMA’s Resolutions, received an overview of federal legislative initiatives, and had an in-depth discussion of various state legislative issues. Although issues varied from state to state, at the top of every list was Workforce Development. MIASF will continue to work with local, state, and national stake holders to find solutions to the diminishing workforce.
