ZF Group, the parent company of ZF Marine Propulsion Systems, recently completed the acquisition of TRW Automotive. The acquisition has propelled the ZF Group into the top three automotive suppliers in the world and will allow ZF Marine to benefit from an unprecedented technological cross-fertilization that spans the automotive, non-automotive and marine sectors.
Maritime Professional Training has opened a lifeboat training facility at the Nautical Ventures location in Dania Beach. The $500,000 investment will allow MPT to train and certify crews in deploying lifeboats using a special crane and state-of-the-art lifeboat. Training at the new facility typically will take a week and cost $1,200 for the certification course.
Yacht Management is pleased to welcome Kelli Popovic and Robert “Jason” Packlain. Kelli, the new business development marketing manager, will be responsible for oversight and direction of marketing campaigns as well as strategic relationship development with key clients and new clients. Jason, the new yard manager, has more than 25 years of marine industry management and service experience, including as a yard foreman and manager at Marine Max. Yacht Management is also offering free survey haulouts for boats up to 100’ through the month of November. The service must be scheduled 72 hours prior to haul-out.
