Mike Burke, formerly of HMY Yacht Sales, has joined the Westport sales team in the Fort Lauderdale office. Westport also recently launched Hull #54 of the 112 foot series at its Westport shipyard, to a repeat 112 client, and launched of Hull #12 of its 40 meter series, making it the 40th 130-foot yacht delivered by the company.
MIASF joins the Morley family in mourning the passing of longtime maritime industry supporter Elmer Morley. Elmer, who founded Maritime Professional Training in 1983 with his wife, Beverley, lost his battle with cancer on August 17.
Northrop and Johnson has hired Maggie Hinesley as its marketing and PR executive. Maggie, who grew up boating on the Gulf Coast, previously was with Sanlorenzo Americas and Camper and Nicholsons International.
Derecktor Florida, which is experiencing its busiest summer in a decade, has ordered a new 200-ton capacity mobile boat hoist from Cimolai Technology in Italy to replace its two aging 150-ton and 60-ton Marine Travelifts. The custom-designed new equipment, slated for delivery in October, will operate on the existing piers.
Palladium Technologies, which develops and deploys advanced control and monitoring solutions for megayachts, has hired Bob Ozer as the new head of its business development team. Ozer, who has more than 30 years of experience in consumer electronics and is a University of Miami graduate, will help Palladium develop new customer relations worldwide.
