Independent Boat Builders Inc. has nominated OceanLED’s Pro Series OceanDMX Mobile App Kit for its John Sisson Innovation Award. OceanLED’s XP Series DMX Mobile App and Controller, which provides complete wifi control of a boat’s underwater LED lights, provides the freedom to create your on-water light show from your mobile device or tablet. It is available as a free download for Apple and Android devices on Google Play.
Freedom Boat Club has announced a national partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Freedom Boat Club’s corporate ownership and franchise owners/operators will work together to raise both awareness and funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Freedom Boat Clubs throughout the nation will host a variety of approved fundraising initiatives and special events in cooperation with local Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliates, concluding with a nationwide “All on Deck” boating party on May 14.
MHG Insurance was named one of the South Florida Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in the small companies category. The rankings celebrate companies that find creative ways to engage employees. Representative from MHG were honored at a celebratory luncheon at the Signature Grand in Davie on Feb. 25.
ZF Marine Propulsion Systems is introducing a new blog to the maritime community about electronic control systems for both commercial and pleasure craft applications. Penned by Scott McCauley, the controls business manager, blog updates will appear bimonthly at www.zfmarinecontrols.com. McCauley has worked in ZF’s controls business for the past 14 years and plans to cover various aspects of electronic control systems. “I hope to make electronic controls easy to understand and provide a forum for people to ask questions and share experiences” he says. Topics will address functionality, reliability and application.
Northrop & Johnson welcomes Alejandra Gutierrez as Marketing & PR Associate. Alejandra, who will be based in the Fort Lauderdale office, is fluent in English and Spanish and speaks conversational French. She graduated from the University Miami and previously worked as a broadcast journalist for MundoFox and as a reporter for beIN Sports. Northrop & Johnson also welcomes charter manager Stacy Moss, who traveled across the globe as chief stewardess and worked as a private estate manager for 10 years. She previously worked in management at International Yacht Collection and as a member of IYC’s charter team.
