MTN, an EMC company, has hired George Whitehouse as its new director of business development for yacht services. George, who has more than 30 years of yachting industry experience, will be responsible for creating new business opportunities and relationships, particularly in the large yacht segment. Previously, George was vice president of business development and sales for Rybovich.

JL Audio is moving the assembly of its marine audio systems from China to its manufacturing facility in Miramar. Revenues were up 30 percent in its marine business in July over a year ago, said Robert Oxenhorn, JL Audio’s director of finance and accounting. “We realized how profitable it could be and how efficient,” Oxenhorn told the Sun Sentinel.

The Florida Yacht Brokers Association has welcomed Michelle DeSantis as its new administrative assistant. Michelle will be responsible for coordinating the charter & broker open houses, planning FYBA’s events and seminars, daily social media marketing, as well as the office’s day to day functions. Northrop and Johnson has hired Rod Lindor as a charter manager, Sanaa Vohra as a charter and sales broker and Paul Burgess as a sales broker. Northrop and Johnson also has announced a new strategic global collaboration with Aston Martin. As part of the multi-year partnership agreement, Northrop & Johnson and Aston Martin will collaborate at the Monaco Yacht Show this month, followed by other key international yacht and brokerage shows and luxury events.

Marine Industry Cares Foundation donated 50 backpacks filled with school supplies to New River Middle School and Stranahan High School. Organizations that were among the numerous marine industry businesses that contributed to the effort included IGY Marinas, Maritime Professional Training, The Triton and MIASF.

Freedom Boat Club has named David Aldrich its full-time director of franchise sales. Aldrich will focus on targeting and further developing key markets throughout North America where the Freedom Boat Club model fits.

The Freedom Waters Foundation is looking for a 40 horsepower motor for its wheelchair accessible deck boat in Fort Lauderdale. If you would like to donate one or know someone who would, please email

TowBoatUS Ft. Lauderdale has added a new boat to its fleet. The 30’ Sea Ark with twin outboard power is constructed of aluminum and will be used primarily to deploy and recover containment boom.

AccuDock has hired Rossana Petreccia as an outside sales representative. Prior to joining AccuDock, Petreccia, who has 18 years of construction industry experience and is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, previously was a project engineer for GSD Contracting, LLC.

The Florida Inland Navigation District will be hosting a community outreach meeting at Roscioli Yachting Center on Oct. 15 from 6-8 p.m.

MIASF Director of Membership Sean Smith attended IBEX this month in Louisville, Ky., where he networked with more than 500 exhibitors from over 50 countries and attended various educational seminars. IBEX is produced by Professional BoatBuilders Magazine and the National Marine Manufacturers Association.
