Parker Yacht Management (PYM) is proud to announce the opening of its new facilities to help support the company’s growth and future opportunities. The PYM facility is in the heart of Fort Lauderdale and is convenient to local shipyards, Port Everglades and the Intracoastal Waterway. In addition to providing service throughout Broward County, PYM also services Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

The 10,000-square foot Fort Lauderdale facility is designed to provide large yacht repairs and services. PYM repairs and refits all makes and brands of tenders, as well as providing the same services found in a large shipyard – electrical, electronics, re-powers, bottom work, paint, gelcoat, fiberglass, fabrication, and soft goods, only specialized for tenders.

MIASF offers congratulations Maritime Professional Training for being honored for outstanding achievement in urban design at the 40th Annual Fort Lauderdale Community Appearance Awards ceremony on May 10th at the Tower Club for its extraordinary S.M.A.R.T. Center on the MPT campus.

Lauderdale Marine Center has received Production Authority under its existing Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) designation. The designation, provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, allows work to be performed on foreign-flagged vessels while they are in the FTZ without having to clear U.S. customs. The zones are considered territories that are not in the commerce zones of the U.S., and work and products done on the boats are considered an export for the purpose of commerce. The FTZ benefits also include showing a boat for sale to U.S. citizens and traveling for exhibitions or sea trials within U.S. waters for up to 120 days.

Active Interest Media (AIM) named Michael Verdon editor-in-chief for Soundings Trade Only. Verdon has been writing about boats and the recreational marine industry since 1990. He has been on the editorial staffs of Motor Boating & Sailing, Boating Industry, and Boating World magazines. For the last 20 years, he has been U.S. editor for International Boat Industry magazine. He has also been a regular contributor to Yachting and Robb Report magazines. Verdon has won multiple awards for his industry reporting and is the recipient of a Boating Pioneers award in the Foreign Journalists category.

Starmark recently announced that its creative work on the Marine Research Hub brand was selected by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts as a winner of the 2018 Communicator Award of Distinction in the category of Corporate Identity: Logo – Non-profit. More than 6,000 entries are received from companies and agencies of all sizes, making The Communicator Award one of the largest awards of its kind in the world, recognizing big ideas in marketing and communications.

JL Audio announced that Sportsman Boats has committed to extending their agreement with JL Audio for three years to become the exclusive audio partner for model years 2019 through 2021. Models included in the contract expansion will include Open and Heritage series of offshore center console models and Masters and Tournament series of inshore bay boats. This expanded partnership will now feature two distinct audio packages: the standard package, included as part of Sportsman’s SportLink Electronics Integration System, and an optional Ultra-Premium M6 upgrade package.

Robert Allen Law announced the addition of two new team members: attorney Cristina Campelo and Public Relations and Marketing Director Sharon Abramson. Campelo’s areas of focus will include yacht law, immigration law, business immigration, crew visas, crew employment agreements, charter agreements, international business compliance, trademarks and foreign investments. Abramson previously worked in marketing at Denison Yacht Sales and was the director of marketing and public relations at the Marine Industries Association of South Florida. She will oversee Robert Allen Law’s public relations, boat show events, email marketing, website, social media and other marketing efforts.

Nautical Ventures announced it will be the exclusive North American dealer of the new Brabus Shadow 800 by Axopar Boats. Developed according to the BRABUS engineering principle of using only the best production materials and component parts available, each boat is part of an initial production run of 20 hand-made examples, referred to as the ‘One of Twenty.’ Out of those limited 20 hand-made models, 2 are heading to the United States by way of Nautical Ventures in Dania Beach, with availability starting in August 2018. Nautical Ventures is currently the number one Axopar dealer worldwide.

Hall of Fame Marina had a memorable National Marina Day event on Saturday, June 2, 2018, with local cub scouts and cadets from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s JROTC enjoying an early morning cruise on the catamaran “Spirit of Lauderdale, ” where the scouts and cadets observed demonstrations of life saving drills on the water by Coast Guard Fort Lauderdale. The City of Fort Lauderdale’s Fire Rescue and US Coast Guard vessels were on display on the docks at Coconuts Restaurant and the first responders answered questions while providing tours of their vessels. An awesome BBQ lunch was provided by G&B Restaurant with about 90 guests in attendance, who had a great time on the water and on land during this year’s marina day event.
