MIASF offers its congratulations to FB Marine Group’s Kim and Randy Sweers, Honored Laureates at the 30th Annual Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame, which was held on April 24th at the JA World Huizenga Center at Lillian S. Wells Pavilion of Broward College.

New Nautical Coatings, Inc., which makes Sea Hawk, Hawk Epoxy, and Captain Jack’s brands of paints, has announced a program designed to transition military veterans into permanent roles in the company. The M2C program offers military veterans the opportunity to repurpose and hone their military skills into the ones necessary to succeed in the marine coatings, manufacturing, and sales business. Recent hires included Michele Durham as an operations specialist and Shannon Evans as a paint compounder.

Through the M2C program, New Nautical Coatings plans to add military veterans to key functional areas of the enterprise including manufacturing, operations, and sales as it expands its Sea Hawk, Hawk Epoxy, and Captain Jack’s brands of marine coatings and private label product offerings. Suntex Marina Investors has acquired an equity interest from RCI Group’s Miami Beach Marina. The state-of-the-art marina offers 400 slips with dockage for vessels up to 250 feet and is located within minutes of South Beach and downtown Miami, and 15 minutes from Miami International Airport.

RCI and Suntex were recently selected by the city of Miami to redevelop the Virginia Key Marina, and Suntex also was selected by the city of Fort Lauderdale to redevelop the Las Olas Marina.

Keith Perfect has joined Northrop & Johnson as director of technology and intelligence. He will be based in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office.

Perfect previously worked at Advantage Services, a Fort Lauderdale website design and IT services company, where he handled myriad projects ranging from customer service to tech support and website development for yachting and maritime companies. He later led its web and cloud development department. Perfect has a bachelor’s degree in information technology.

Perfect is an active board member of the Freedom Waters Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic marine-related experiences.

The Clearwater, Florida-based yacht retailer MarineMax has launched a mobile app in Florida to make scheduling boat service easier.

The Service Express app is available for Android and iOS. Customers who register their boat on the app can schedule their service in advance, including routine maintenance and service to be performed at the boat’s location, according to a company statement.
