Fairy tales shine at Winterfest Boat Parade December 22, 2015

More than 1 million viewers got a live look at “Fairy Tales Afloat,” the theme of this year’s Winterfest Boat Parade on Saturday, December 12. MIASF is a Founding Sponsor of the parade, which aired live on WSVN Channel 7 and around the country.

“The Greatest Show on H20” staged along the New River and traveled 12 miles east to the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale and north to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. Spectators could observe the parade from a variety of viewing points along the New River or Intracoastal, including the Grandstand Viewing Area at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Organizers of the parade worked with the train to ensure the parade could be staged without interruption.

MIASF members that participated in the parade included ACR Electronics, which was the Official Boating Safety Partner of the parade, Charter One Yachts, whose Grand Floridian acted as the Grand Marshal Showboat, Bradford Marine, Cliff Berry, Carefree Boat Club and the Freedom Waters Foundation, whose boat was decorated and manned by Young Professionals in Yachting, to name a few.

The people’s choice award will be announced on January 8, and the judges of more than 100 boats that entered were Danielle Butler, MIASF president and managing partner of Luxury Law Group, Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler, U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Scott Buschman, Show Management President and CEO Skip Zimbalist, on-air personality Nathalie Rodriguez and John Castelli, president of Greater Fort Lauderdale Realtors.

She’s a 10, owned by It’s a 10 founder Carolyn Plummer, who spoke at MIASF’s International Marine Hub Luncheon during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, won the award for “Best in Entertainment” in the Private 60+ category.

Earlier this year, Winterfest kicked off the festivities with a White Party, Family Fun Day and a spectacular Kinky Boots-themed Black Tie Gala.
