Broward Days February 28, 2018
The annual Broward Days advocacy effort took place on February 7th and 8th, with hundreds of Broward County leaders traveling to Tallahassee to speak with legislators and agency chiefs on issues of importance to business, education, health care, and the environment. MIASF attended multiple meetings with Senators, Representatives, and agency leadership to discuss various legislative priorities that may have an impact Broward County. We continue to urge the inclusion of a greater tax cap on refit and repairs in the State budget in order for Florida to stay competitive with neighboring states. This year, we have also paid close attention to CS/CS/CS/HB 469 by Rep. Harrison, and its companion, CS/CS/CSSB 664 by Sen. Young, relating to the Salvage of Pleasure Vessels, and will continue to monitor its progress through the Legislative Session that is scheduled to end on March 9th.
