Association Hires Expert to Steer PR & Marketing December 8, 2014
Media industry veteran Sharon Abramson is joining MIASF in January as its new director of public relations and marketing to help raise awareness of the industry and its multi-billion-dollar impact. She will help develop programs and initiatives to advance the association and the marine industry both internally and externally. Abramson will also foster media relations with marine and general media to improve the marine industry’s recognition at local, state and federal levels and work with the association’s various committees to implement and execute initiatives, events, programs and projects.
Abramson previously worked at Insider Media Management in Boca Raton as a media relations specialist and account executive and has more than a decade of experience working for publications including the Palm Beach Post, Austin American-Statesman, Palm Beach Daily News and Ocean Drive magazine. She also oversaw a national education publication and website for LRP Publications.
“Growing up in South Florida, I witnessed firsthand the impact that the marine industry has on the community, and I’m excited to be able to put my experience and skills to use helping to promote that industry and increase awareness of its importance,” says Abramson, a lifelong South Floridian.
Abramson, who is a graduate of the University of Florida, will report to MIASF Executive Director Phil Purcell. “We are pleased to have Sharon join our team” says Purcell.”
