Around the industry: MICF goes to the ballpark, brokers attend summit, MIASF members mingle August 20, 2015

More than 100 members of the marine industry traveled by bus and car to watch the Miami Marlins take on the Boston Red Sox on August 11 with the Marine Industry Cares Foundation. MICF treated two families from Kids In Distress and Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center to a special night out.

Those who stuck it out got to see the Marlins come back from behind in the ninth to send the game into overtime and eventually win in the 10th inning. MICF presented KID with a check for $5,000 for their on-campus foster home renovations. MICF also was the beneficiary of the 50-50 raffle at the game, which garnered an impressive $3,948!

On August 18 in Sarasota, more than 100 yacht brokers were on board for the Florida Yacht Brokers Association’s West Coast of Florida Yacht Sales Summit.

Topics included how to get the most out of Google’s latest releases, a panel on traveling to Cuba, advantages and disadvantages of foreign flagging, what’s new in marine electronics, purchase and sales and listing agreement forms changes, paints and coatings, modern stabilization and social media – how to get the biggest bang for your buck. Sponsors included Robert Allen Law, Yachtworld and Total Dollar.
