Alex Houllis joins Frank and Jimmie’s June 27, 2016
It is exciting to watch the next generations of the marine industry workforce in action. Alex Houllis, who began working as a Customer Service Representative and Technical Engineering Intern at Frank and Jimmie’s Ft. Lauderdale location on June 6th, spent Marine Industry Day helping children design, build and race their own propeller boats.
“I love showing young kids how much fun they can have and how rewarding it is to build something and watch it work,” said Alex.
Alex is a recent graduate of Florida Atlantic University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ocean Engineering, where he designed a self-submerging buoy as his senior project. As a certified SCUBA diver, a licensed Florida Boater, and a member of The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Alex has immersed himself in the marine industry.
“We are indeed pleased to have Alex working with us.” said Don MacRae, President and COO of Frank and Jimmie’s Propeller. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to train young engineers like Alex and spark interest in this vital industry. In addition to our primary efforts of the last year – Safety, Quality, and On-time Delivery – recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining good people, at all levels of our organization, has been a top priority.”
Alex will train with the team of propeller experts at Frank and Jimmie’s to develop his technical skills, and will also manage special projects, develop MRI and Dynamic Balancing Training and Certification programs, and support ongoing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and In-Process Quality Assurance Initiatives.
When he’s not working, Alex spends his free time kite boarding, wake boarding, SCUBA diving, boating, and fishing.
