23rd Annual Tribute to the Coast Guard Seventh District November 30, 2016
MIASF was proud to be one of the sponsors of The Coast Guard Foundation Gala, held on November 16, 2016, which celebrated the achievements of those serving in the Coast Guard’s Seventh District, a 1.8 million square mile area that shares operational borders with 34 foreign nations and territories.
Reggie Rivers, former Denver Broncos running back, and media personality, served as the master of ceremony, with keynote speaker Vice Admiral Karl Schultz, Commander of the Coast Guard Atlantic Area. The members from Coast Guard Sector San Juan received the prestigious Coast Guard Foundation Award for pulling 511 people to safety from the Caribbean Fantasy cruise ship after its engine caught fire on August 17th.
MIASF member Joe Farrell, President and CEO of Resolve Marine Group, was honored for his 35 years in global marine services and his contributions to the Coast Guard Foundation. As a young man, Joe joined the U.S. Coast Guard and worked on engines aboard the CGC Southwind, attended the U.S. Navy diving school, and then volunteered again as a USCG explosives advisor.
Humorous moments, moving tributes, and a true sense of patriotism highlighted the evening and inspired those in attendance.
